It has Windows 8.1 on it and to this day I can't understand what people found wrong with Windows 8/8.1. I, too, am running Win 7, but immediately installed Norton Internet Security 2010 to protect myself. I do game on my Windows 8.1 system. Never got a virus with MSSE.
