The BIOS should be setup to Auto-Detect the hard drive. I'm completely devastated. If your external hard drive is more than 2TB it is probably formatted in GPT instead of standard MBR, which cannot be read by 32bit Operating Systems such as WIndows XP. What are the chances, it is brand new! For example, you may have formatted the drive with the ext4 file system from Linux or the HFS Plus file system from a Mac.
