That will help tell me if it's OS X (if the LaCie randomly ejects/sleeps as well) or if it's the Ministration (the LaCie is stable).It's an annoying issue for sure, and There is the hdparm utility which has a command option to make a drive spin down to standby.
I feel like there is a setting in Windows 8.1 that lets external devices sleep after a while if they're not used to save power. Turn off Spotlight! Could it be??I've changed the port and so far so good...
