How to od this; click on start then open my computer then right click on c:\ drive and choose tools option then select "chck Now" for error, then check the box This was driving me NUTS! To read a drive like this one, you can either connect it to the Mac or Linux PC it was made on, and copy your files off of it onto another drive. but some say then the pc will not ever recognise it again and i can use it only with the tv.
It got the lot. I believe the the drive is already erased, does Delete Volume erase the information so I can format it or does it delete the existing partition? You can then create partitions on the empty drive. Really helpful.

I didn't try assigning letters and all that crap as I didn't want to be transfer stuff off my hard drive to wipe it clean. thanks for saving my life, my usb drive packed with 3 months of college work on it & i've rescued it & now learnt to copy it & back it up. If the drive has a file system not recognized by OS X, you'll need to erase it and the format it using FAT or HFS+.
