Take care when updating bios though, because I don't think it's recommended unless if your computer is having problems and not being able to be fixed. We need more people like you all, posting valuable information and not just problems but solutions instead. I did not try disabling LPM (some sort of power saving mod) but I did change the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE. Unplugged every hardware i could and plugged it back in (graphics card, memory, SSDs/HDDs etc.) when i booted my system back up, it started a disk check. I'm sure it's not relevant, but on the off chance: have you checked the event logs for an event ID 11 error.
