Especially when an alert is active i crash every 5-10 minutes on average and the game is completely unplayable. Try maybe leaving you case open and getting a big fan to blow straight onto you graphics card. It's almost like my game is refusing to upload info to the Rockstar servers. Should I get even the optional updates? I've been playing singleplayer all day and no crashes at all after I did that. I'm glad I made the game work, but Rockstar's support has been really unsatisfying.
I agree with the countless others around here, take the side off your case, get a big room fan and point that sucker right into the case.

Uninstalled AVG and launched the game which had the same freeze issue. What brands do you suggest for my cpu and vid card? I suggest testing each stick at a time if you have multiple SIMMs. I could uninstall Avast, but is Windows Defender really going to cut it over Avast? Verify the game filed though steam and it will redownload some files, it may take a while but it fixed it for me. Still, my PC is freezing for any game..
