Based on this, I recommend others try it too.My thanks to Brian's experiment and recommendation. I could change my background picture, but I cannot use right click on the background. The startup repair came up with nothing and there are no fall-back reversion points (I.e to take comp back to before it did the updates). After it fixed the registry, and i still continued on with my normal computer usage, i never had to turn it off until late at night before going to bed (unrelated). The time now is 07:33 AM. It worked to take out the battery, hold down the power button, etc.
It will load into safe mode but safe mode doesn't actually let me do anything. and one of them has this problem which I don't know what to do.. My monitor's got a button for switching from analog to digital. Black Screen After Login Windows 8 Yes.

My motherboard and video card have BOTH been replaced TWICE in 1 week. Thanks! The computer accepts no input outside of mouse movement and requires a hard reset. When I start windows, everything appears fine.

It will be called cbs.log You'll need to extract the useful info from the log, which will be quite large and hard to read. I saw a solution posted somewhere to download the new .bin file but the upload link was gone. I haven't had the problem since and it's been almost two months. Safe mode worked fine b4.
